Proof of concept: Future-proof visualization with SIMATIC WinCC Unified

The challenge

A global producer of ice cream equipment, known for intuitive and user-friendly production systems, wanted to future-proof its control panels with Siemens' newest visualization software, SIMATIC WinCC Unified — but first needed to clarify whether the platform could meet its requirements. The new panels had to have the same visual look and user experience as the existing ones (ideally better), without operators experiencing significant changes to basic operation. There were also open questions about functionality, integration and future-proofing, especially since Unified differs markedly from the company's traditional Rockwell panels.

The solution

Techsoft carried out a structured proof of concept combining technical insight with practical testing. First, we mapped the company's requirements and needs so that all critical functions were covered. We then built panels in SIMATIC WinCC Unified and tested functionality, usability and scalability.

Finally, we delivered a detailed assessment that gave the company a clear, well-founded basis for deciding to move forward with Unified — and a starting point for Techsoft to subsequently help with development, simulation, customization and support during the actual implementation.
